The crew at Hoonigan is hopping up a bright yellow Chevy Corvette C6 Z06 to be given away along with $20,000 cash. They set out with a goal to build a supercar slayer on a budget. Aiming for 550 WHP (647 hp/656 ps) as the minimum goal, the supercar-killer build had to get the job done on a budget. With the C6 Z06 being a great platform — a sports car that’s certainly no slouch — they had a few tricks up their sleeves, including an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger!

“So, here’s the goal. Build a supercar killer that’s not going to break the bank that we could go take out and mop some people up with,” Zac of Hoonigan offers.

The Z06 Plan

Chevy built the C6 Z06 with a punchy 7.0-liter engine backed by a six-speed manual transmission. Although potent, the stock engine is rated at 505 horsepower, so the 472-rear-wheel-horsepower Corvette needs a little more if it’s going to kill supercars.

The cherry 2006 Corvette Z06 is a lightweight base that’s getting an appearance makeover, warning challengers that they are not dealing with just any Corvette. Suspension and braking are also getting upgraded because you want the car to handle the extra power from go to stop. That brings us to the star of the build, the way these guys will push the C6Z into the 650-horsepower arena, the Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger.

The Z06 Upgrades

After brakes, wheels, tires, suspension, and other supporting upgrades, the Corvette C6 Z06 is ready for the big leagues with the supercharger install. The Edelbrock forced induction solution the boys at Hoonigan went with is a 50-state emissions legal package, so in terms of the supercharger, it’s even legal in California. You can see the installation of the kit here and learn a few tips during the process:

As with most videos taken inside a shop, the language is NSW.

With the supercharger installed, the crew takes care of some “house cleaning” items before uploading the Edelbrock-provided tune to the Z06. This programs the ECU to run correctly with the supercharger. It’s a painless process.

Just like with any Hoonigan build, after the work comes the fun. Taking the car out into the tire-coated parking lot, the Z06 burns serious rubber and spits fire. The car is off to get a new clutch, and everyone anxiously awaits the final dyno numbers.
