While other performance brands are moving away from carburetor development and support, Edelbrock has doubled down on its efforts to provide the best race carbs on the planet. The VRS-4150 is the all-new, highly-adjustable, four-barrel carburetor from the design team at Edelbrock. Reinforcing the idea that “carbs are not dead!” has gotten the racing industry abuzz, and some of our favorite publishers and builders are weighing in. This is what they had to say about the newly designed VRS-4150.

“The carburetor’s image is further enhanced with Edelbrock’s recent introduction of a brand-new, highly refined four-barrel they call the VRS-4150,” said Jeff Smith, as published in a recent Motor Trend article, which you can see here.

Smith highlights the popular sizing options, including 650, 750, and 850cfm. A 950cfm will be available in the future. Smith points out the flexibility in the tuning department. “Given the adjustability it offers, this carburetor would appear to be aimed at higher-end competition engines. However, Edelbrock says that this carburetor can be successfully employed on the street with the right amount of knowledgeable tuning,” he says.

The VRS Series Carbs have some outstanding features that set it apart from other four-barrel race carbs on the market.

According to Wesley Cameron, Edelbrock’s product engineer for the VRS-4150, “This carb is our attempt at the best of both worlds. It is very race-oriented, with no choke and a taller overall height to improve the venturi design. Still, it also has all the common vacuum ports and a provision for a throttle position sensor for the street customer. Also, the large annular boosters generate much more signal than a typical small down-leg, which makes the reaction time quicker for fuel to start flowing out of the booster,” as Engine Labs shares here.

“If it is time to install a new carburetor, choosing an Edelbrock VRS-4150 is the correct move. The VRS-4150 will be a pleasure to tune with Edelbrock’s latest carburetor innovations,” says Mopar Connection’s Chris Holley in his article here.

The Edelbrock VRS-4150 race carbs are certainly turning some heads. The engineers did their homework and made some well-thought-out upgrades to make the VRS series carbs a competitor right out of the box. It will be interesting to see what applications people start to put these carbs in.
